Test Drive 006
Here is our Fifth Test Drive Meme! There are a lot of areas of the city to explore, so please have a look around! In case you need a little help getting started, I've included a few prompts below, or feel free to start your own! Exploration and player initiative are the names of the game here!
Arrival & General Information | Setting & Bestiary | Locales & Businesses | Residences & Housing Info | Rules & FAQ (ask questions here!)
I. Crash Into MeNot exactly, but close enough. You have just arrived and received a strange satchel from a tiny, strange little man and are left more or less to your own devices (more information on what to expect upon arrival can be found here)! Follow directions to the north and check out the housing, or maybe have a look around the Historium and try to get some information from that giant glowing ball, see what you can waste your meager starter coin on in the Market District, or maybe just meet the neighbors.II. What Goes Bump in the Night
It looks like Aterat proper has a spirit problem. Maybe you're seeing specters, hearing disembodied voices, your windows rattle when there's no breeze outside. Maybe there are cold spots in your place of business (or your apartment, which is so much worse). Either way, you're 100% convinced you're haunted. Hopefully, someone else believes you, or maybe you're used to feeling crazy.III. When the Carnival Came to Town?
Take a look at the prompts from our latest event and go to town (or the carnival).IV. Try the Network
The Tell-Phone allows for text, video, and audio transmissions to everyone else who has one. Give it a whirl!V. Wildcard
The above prompts are all options, and there's much more to the setting than what they provide. Do your best (or your worst)!

[ He responded with a smile. They were fun, and it seemed like most people who arrived were fairly sociable. He was glad he had mentioned the beach, though. It seemed that Remy was a fan of beaches. So that was a nice helpful suggestion, he supposed. But at the next comment, Yusuke tilted his head slightly. ]
I can see that! Your card tower is quite impressive. Mine usually fall by that point. [ He observed with a curious tone. ] Perhaps one day I’ll have a chance to show you how to play the game, if you're interested.
[ The teen’s responses grew a little more animated at the comment, though. ]
There truly is! It’s quite an interesting world, there are so many interesting people, creatures and sights to consider for subjects. I’ve been kept quite busy by the distraction.
[ Which was nice, to have so many new ideas given he had arrived in the middle of something of a slump. ]

[If there was one thing Gambit knew how to do, it was throwing a party, and he could even make it entertaining for children.]
Ain't a very useful talent, but it ain't my only one, neither. [Though he did pause and look over to the feed after that.] I'm always up for learnin' a new game, homme. Bring it on.
[And if there's gambling involved, he's there.]
Oui? What's caught your attention right now, eh? [Because he knows artists, okay.]
no subject
[ Not that he had ever been to a block party either, like a potluck that would be new for the teen. He wondered what other talents the man might have meant, but the interest and light challenge that followed gets an intrigued smile in return. ]
Then I look forward to the opportunity to teach you one day. If you provide the cards, I’ll provide the rules.
[ Unless he found a deck before too long, he had been keeping an eye out… But he hadn’t managed to grab a set deck yet. ]
The creatures of this world are quite intriguing and unlike those I’ve seen before, like chocobos, are rather colourful and interesting to capture in place of horses in various settings. Oh- and I’ve recently painted the owner of the local flower shop, a lovely woman who actually has some of my work on display. Should you be interested in seeing it? She was kind enough to offer, given I don’t have a space to display anything myself.
no subject
[Though he'll be sure to make it a child-friendly block party, which he actually has some experience doing. He's a teacher, after all.]
Bien sûr! It's a standard deck, then?
[Not that he couldn't locate a specialized deck, but Gambit didn't go far without at least one deck of cards. It may seem strange to someone who doesn't know he uses them as projectiles.]
Local flower shop. [ He nods as though making a mental note.] This shop got a name?
[He smiled, though, at the thought of the weird birds.] Seem them around, the chocobos. Bigger than any bird I saw before, least from Earth, and we got ostriches.
no subject
[ And drag his friends along, undoubtedly. Though he also realized dragging probably wasn’t the right word for it, they would probably enjoy something like that as much as everyone else. Haru had fun at the potluck with him, after all. ]
Yes! I have been keeping an eye out for a standard deck, but haven’t come across one yet.
[ By which he means watching around the houses they hit in their ‘side activities’ to ‘borrow’ but hadn’t quite located one yet. ]
Oh! Here... Let me send you the address. It’s quite a beautiful little shop that Aerith runs. [ He responded, sending the information off to the man. ]
There are ostriches where I’m from as well, though I’ve never seen one up close before. So being able to see these chocobos has been quite interesting!
no subject
And if I get a mind to throw that party, you'll be the first to know.
[He takes the address, taking a moment to work out how to save it in his Tell Phone before replying.]
Merci, I'll be sure to pay her a visit.
[He nods.] Oui, I only ever saw the up close in Africa and I was a little busy at the time, non? Best to catch them as zoos. I wonder if they could be as useful domesticated like these chocobos.
no subject
[ He responded with a grateful tone. If he should happen to come across some beforehand, he would, of course, let the man know as well so he could show in the game. ]
I certainly appreciate the eventual invitation. I’m sure my friends that are here would as well.
[ Offering a smile, he was glad to hear that Gambit would take a look at the shop. Not only to hear what the man thought of his art but also because Aerith deserved customers. It was a beautiful shop, and he felt quite grateful for what she’d done for him since they met. ]
Yes, I don’t know that I would wish to see an ostrich in the wild… I have heard they can be quite temperamental birds, can they not? Perhaps they could be domesticated with time, though… But the chocobos are certainly easy enough to approach for the most part. It is interesting to see them around the city where one would expect to see something like a horse.
no subject
[He nodded in agreement with the boy.]
I might have to look in to 'em myself. Don't have much experience with animals as a whole, really, but they got my curiosity up, non?
[And he most likely would be looking into them.]
And I'll let you know when I've had a chance to look over your work, eh? Maybe you can tell me about it.
no subject
[ The suggestion gets a bright tone in return, though. Yusuke was, after all, always eager to discuss his art with someone who might appreciate it. ]
I would love to hear from you on the subject if you do, and I’d be happy to tell you more about a piece if you find yourself curious!
no subject
[Was that true? Sure! Remy likes trying many different things in life. He'd miss the city too much at the end of the day, but anything's worth trying out.]
I'll take you up on that, mon ami. Been to my share of galleries and seen my share of collections.
[And stole them, but you know, who's counting?]
no subject
[ Yusuke was at least accepting it as the truth, and it was a positive spin on the situation that not everyone who arrived was able to. ]
Wonderful, I shall look forward to it. Perhaps you can tell me about some of the collections you’ve seen in return.
[ which was fun to think of, after all. Yusuke had always liked the idea of travelling to see some collections in person, even if it wasn’t exactly feasible right now… But one day.
And Yusuke could certainly understand a little thievery… depending on the situation, of course, but he could understand it. ]
